While essential oils are natural and generally well tolerated, even they can feel like too much for highly sensitive skin. This new option offers the same nourishing, supportive formula without essential oils for those who prefer an ultra gentle approach.
The concentration of essential oils in all of our formulas is already below industry standard and yet some individuals still find any essential oils to be too activating. These aromatic oils are produced by plants and although they are 100% natural, that doesn’t mean they are are not potent. For example, when you inhale citrus essential oil, it is measurable in the blood within seconds. Simply inhaling essential oil has a therapeutic effect!
We’ve learned though many years of distillation and formulation that plants produce essential oils for a variety of reasons and although they have many beneficial impacts on humans, in high concentrations they can overload the system. Plants produce essential oils to protect themselves and to attract pollinators, and in our opinion they must be used with reverence and respect. It takes a large amount of plant material to produce a single ounce of essential oil and in many herbalist traditions, they are considered to be the most potent form of natural medicine.
Our high quality shea butter combined with locally grown herb-infused oils renders a silky smooth, lightly fragrant face cream that isn’t over powering. It’s gentle, pleasantly aromatic all on its own without any added essential oils.
