The arrival of the spring equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere marks a powerful threshold. It is a quiet but undeniable turning point in the rhythm of the year. Day and night come into perfect balance, offering us a rare moment of equilibrium before the light begins to stretch and grow. This is the season of beginnings, when the earth softens, seeds awaken and life stirs beneath the surface ready to emerge a new.

In many ancient traditions, the spring equinox is honored as the true new year. Rather than beginning in the stillness of winter, the year begins with movement, growth and possibility. Mother Earth rises from her slumber, shaking off the heaviness of the colder months and begins again. Buds form, roots deepen, and the soil becomes rich with potential.

We are not separate from this rhythm.

Just as the earth is ready to receive seeds, so too are we ready to plant intentions, quiet desires, whispered hopes, and visions for what we wish to cultivate in the months ahead. This is a time to take stock of what has passed, to acknowledge the lessons, the endings, and the transformations of the past year. There is no need to rush forward without first honoring what has brought you here.

Spring invites a clearing.

Open the windows. Let fresh air move through your home, carrying away stagnation. Clean, rearrange, simplify. As you tend to your outer space, notice what begins to shift internally. What are you ready to release? What feels heavy, outdated, or no longer aligned?

This is also a time to tend to the inner landscape with the same care.

Step outside and bask in the returning warmth of the sun. Let it touch your skin, your face, your closed eyelids. Feel its quiet strength, a reminder that light always returns. Take a moment to offer a prayer or simply hold a clear intention in your heart. What are the seeds you wish to nurture this year? Speak them softly or hold them silently. Trust that they are being received.

Bring your awareness down into your body.

Let your bare feet meet the earth. Feel the subtle aliveness beneath you, the ground warming, softening, awakening. Allow yourself to be held there, even for just a few moments. As the sun warms your skin and the earth supports your weight, notice the sense of connection that arises. You are part of this cycle, not separate from it.

Ritual can be simple, yet deeply meaningful.

Plant a few seeds in small pots and place them in a greenhouse or a sunlit window, where warmth and light can reach them. Water them softly, tend to them with care and return to them each day, not to rush their growth, but to witness it. Beneath the soil, something unseen is already unfolding. Roots are forming, anchoring, preparing, gathering strength before anything breaks the surface.

This stage asks for patience and trust.

There is a quiet intimacy in tending to something that has not yet revealed itself. As you care for your seedlings, you are also tending to your own beginnings, the ideas, intentions, and desires that are still taking shape within you. You do not need to force their emergence. Like the seeds, they will rise in their own time.

This is the beginning of the garden, both literal and symbolic. Each small pot becomes a living ritual, a reflection of your willingness to nurture what you wish to grow. Over time, delicate green shoots will appear, reaching instinctively toward the light. They are a reminder that growth is both natural and inevitable when given the right conditions.

Gather a small bundle of flowers, fresh herbs, or hydrosols whatever calls to you. Let their scent and texture bring you into the present moment. Prepare a bowl of warm water infused with these botanicals and soak your feet. This gentle act becomes a symbolic cleansing, a way of honoring the path you’ve walked and preparing for the one ahead.

As your feet rest in the water, reflect on where you are going. Not with pressure or urgency, but with curiosity and openness. The path does not need to be fully seen or known yet, simply feel it unfolding in your heart.

The spring equinox is not always about dramatic change. It is generally a subtle emergence. It is about tending, listening, and allowing.

This is your time to begin again.
